What is Rotkhen?
Rotkhen (“street carts near me” in Thai) is an app for finding street food carts and mobile vendors that are open near you right now: fruit carts, sausages, meatballs, ice cream, desserts, drinks and more. You see each cart on a live map and can check the menu and prices before you head out.
How do I find street food near me?
Open the app and the map shows the carts selling around you right now, sorted from nearest, with walking time. Pick a category such as fruit, sausages or meatballs, or search for the dish you want.
I'm a street vendor. How do customers find me?
Sign in to the app with your Google account, add your shop name, a photo of your cart, your menu and prices, then tap Open shop when you start selling. Customers nearby see your cart on the map right away, so you don't have to post where you are every day. It's free.
Where does it work?
Anywhere in Thailand. Shops appear on the map when vendors in that area open their shop in the app. The more vendors join, the more carts you'll find near you.
When can I download it?
Soon: first on Android (Google Play), then on iPhone. We'll announce it on this page and on our Facebook page.
Does it cost anything?
It's free for both customers and vendors. There are no payments in the app and no ads.
Do customers need an account?
No. Open the app and browse right away. Only vendors sign in with a Google account to open their shop.
Can the app see my location?
Customers: your location is only used on your phone to work out distances and is never sent to our servers. Vendors: your shop's location is shared only while your shop is open. Close the shop and it disappears right away; we don't keep a route history. More in our Privacy policy.
Will leaving my shop open drain my battery or heat up my phone?
The app is built to save power: it checks less often while the cart is parked and more often while it's moving. In our real-world tests it used about 1% battery per hour in the background (depends on your phone).
How do I delete my shop and account?
You can delete them yourself in the app, or see Delete your account and data.
